Welcome, everyone! This is the first blog of the dedicated GSoC blog series. This will be used for documenting and exhibiting the work done during GSoC by me.
Apllication Phase
I had known about GSoC for quite some time and this year thought of giving it a try. I had some elementary machine learning, statistics, mathematical prerequisites through my coursework as well as my own explorations. I was hence looking out for organizations involving projects from these domains and using broadly the Python-Scientific Computing technology stack. I had shortlisted a few organizations including CERN-HSF, GeomScale, SymPy, NumFOCUS umbrella among others.
I stumbled upon Machine Learning for Turbulent Fluid Dynamics project under the ML4SCI organization which was not in my initial plan. But the topics, tools, technologies were exactly what I was looking for! Machine Learning for Science organization has participated under GSoC for the first time however, it is much more a spinoff from the CERN-HSF umbrella.
Soon, I got involved by joining the Gitter channels, mailing the organization admins, working on the evaluation tasks, and exploring more about the project. After a week of rigorous planning and execution I completed writing the proposal !
Acceptance
On May 17, at 11:15 PM I received a mail saying
GSoC 2021: Congratulations, your proposal with Machine Learning for Science (ML4SCI) Umbrella Organization has been accepted!
The community bonding period started right off with this mail! Soon we had an entire organization welcome meet, followed by a discussion on the project with the mentors, deciding the goals, timelines, and deliverables for the project. Elementary readings, discussions along with some explorations, installations, and setups conclude the community bonding period here today.

Coding Phase Begins
I will keep updating this frequently. Looking forward to an amazing summer. Till then
CodingPase.start()
while 10 Weeks:
read()
ideate()
code()
document()
print("GSoC completed successfully !")
That’s it for this post! Feel free to reach out if for any contributions, suggestions, help .
I will keep posting about this project and how everything is going here. Till then, stay safe and healthy !
